There are some pieces of gear that are essential to take on any camping trip. For instance, a tent would be one of the most important family camping gear pieces that you will need. Don’t screw this up.
The tent seems quite obvious, but there is much more to it than that. For one, you are going to have to figure out how many people in total are going on the camping trip with you, and then make sure obviously that the tent that you get is going to be able to fit everyone. You Need Cooking Equipment Another one of the essential family camping gear pieces that you have to make sure that you bring is a cook stove of some sort, so that you have a way of cooking food while you are out there. You will need a good camp stove unless you intend to cook over an open fire. A sterno stove will do for minor cooking. One, two, or three burners stoves are the standard. This is dependent on how much room you have for equipment, how far it has to be carried and how much you intend to cook. After all you can of course use a regular old fire, however if the weather is rainy or even damp, then you may not be able to build a fire. With a stove, you do not have to worry about this, and so you are able to eat hot food regardless and you will not end up living on cold canned goods. Lighting You really need to consider your nigh time lighting. Besides flashlights you will need a lantern unless of course you are in a campground that has an electrical outlet. In that case you can use any lighting suitable for outdoor use. Also you can use an outdoor electric hotplate or electric grill for cooking. There are many other items that are considered as being essential as well, for instance: clothing, toothbrush, toothpaste, drinking water or a kettle to boil lake water, lighter, food, and a form of communication. Camping is one of the most enjoyable hobbies around, and so if you have never tried it before, you are definitely going to want to head out sometime soon for a camping trip of your own. There are many other items that you can bring with you camping as well that may not be so necessary, and this will basically be up to each different person who is going. If you are one of those people that are planning on going then a good idea is to sit down and make up a list for yourself so that you can keep track and check each item off the list as you pack it.
